The Port Colborne Wave Girls Hockey Association, in partnership with the Port Colborne Sailors Junior Hockey Club, is proud to announce Pink at the Rink, a special community event taking place at the Vale Health & Wellness Centre.
This initiative brings together two generations of hockey, junior players and grassroots athletes — to celebrate the game while raising awareness and funds for important causes.
Founded with the mission of creating opportunities for girls in hockey, the Wave has been a cornerstone for youth sports in Port Colborne and the surrounding communities. From its earliest days, the association has provided a welcoming environment for beginners and experienced players alike, building a foundation for confidence, teamwork, and a lifelong love of the game.
Today, the Wave continues to grow, building teams and players from their first time on the ice. The association has worked hard to ensure that our players don’t face the same barriers that their mothers and grandmothers did in our nations favourite sport. Making sure our girls have a safe space to practice, learn and grow, ensuring that they have ice time at a reasonable hour and coaching staff that know the game. The Wave is proud to support women’s hockey from ages 3-99.
Pink the Rink will be raising funds for the Canadian Breast Cancer Society, supporting a cause that touches so many families in our community. By combining these efforts, the Wave is building a stronger foundation for both the players on the ice today and the communities that stand behind them. 50% of the Wave’s proceeds will be donated to this important cause.
The evening promises an atmosphere of unity and pride. Fans are encouraged to wear pink and show their support, with ticket proceeds and merchandise sales contributing to both player development and breast cancer research.

As the Wave looks to the future, events like “Pink at the Rink” represent more than a night of hockey. They embody the belief that when we invest in gender equity and community, everyone wins.
