Join our Association as a volunteer and make a game-changing impact on young players. From seasoned veterans to wide-eyed rookies, we welcome all!
Here's the scoop on getting started:
First, the heart matters:
- While coaching experience is a plus, your passion for girls' hockey and their growth as players and community members is key.
- Willingness to learn and a positive attitude are essential tools in your coaching toolbox.
Ready to apply?
- Complete the 2025 -2026 Bench Staff Application . It's easy and gets you started.
- Members of the Executive will decide who will be appointed to teams or programs.
- Teams or programs not filled by the deadline set by the Association will remain open until filled.
Coaching up your skills:
- To be a Coach, you'll need at least Coach Level 1 or 1/2 (for Fundamental U7 & U9 teams). For higher divisions, Level 2 is a must.
- Check out Team Qualification Requirements
- You'll also need the Respect in Sport - Activity Leaders Certification.
- D1 certification is not required for House League.
- The general rule, must be two or more years older than the team or program you want to coach
- 18+ years old

Become a certified Trainer:
- Want to help keep our players healthy and in top shape? Get your Trainer certification online at https://htohockey.ca/.
- It's quick, easy, and valid for three years.
- You'll also need the Respect in Sport - Activity Leaders Certification.
Police Check:
It is required by all Bench staff! Niagara Regional Police Will require a letter from the association that you are volunteering as a coach or trainer.

We reimburse almost all certification costs once you're chosen for a team or program! That means getting qualified and making a difference becomes even more accessible.
